The Choronzon complex Empty The Choronzon complex

Hey all this large train of thought has been possessing me so I figured I'd share it. For anyone familiar with Enochian, or Thelemic traditions, Choronzon is a pretty well-known figure. For those unaware, it is a formless being of the void who is the infinite tempter and destroyer of man. He is the test one must pass in those respective systems to cross the abyss, which choronzon is an embodiment of.

From the calls of the 30 Enochian Aethyrs, choronzon is depicted in the tenth, and for what it is worth, is quoted as saying:
"I am I. I have shut myself up from the spendthrifts, my gold is safe in my treasure-chamber, and I have made every living thing my concubine, and none shall touch them, save only I. And yet I am scorched, even while I shiver in the wind. He hateth me and tormenteth me. He would have stolen me from myself, but I shut myself up and mock at him, even while he plagueth me. From me come leprosy and pox and plague and cancer and cholera and the falling sickness. Ah! I will reach up to the knees of the Most High, and tear his phallus with my teeth, and I will bray his testicles in a mortar, and make poison thereof, to slay the sons of men13. " Choronzon apparantly tests the Frater in multiple ways, turning both into his teacher, and an ex-lover.

I've noticed some real thick parallels here. The first comes from the Qu'ran, with the Jinn Ilbis. Long story short, Allah makes the Jinn and everything is splendid. One day he asks them to scatter vessels so that he may populate the world with man. All the Jinn obey, save for Ilbis, who says that he will "see the souls of man and tempt them from your straight and narrow path".

The most interesting connection I found was through the Primalcraft works of Mark Smith. He equates Choronzon with Belail. In many a system, these entities are said to reside within the void, and in some translations, Belail means "the yolk-less one". In Smith's working's however, he says Belail is the guardian of Chokmah/Ghagiel in his higher aspect, and as the guardian of earth in a lower form. Nonetheless, he still described belail as "residing within the central cell" (the void)

In The book of Orion, Luis Marques describes the interrelationship of the elements, saying that "All are equal, but Earth is a lesser, deceiving element, and must be overcome." This relationship is also evident within Smith's work, but he has a far deeper relationship with Belail than any other author I've ever read.

When we look at the Kabbalah, and allegories of this demon, it resembles the Ass-headed uncle of Heru in so many ways. It's the masculine, destructive, deceptive principle of jack-assery. But at the same time, this ass is a very necessary teacher, forcing the initiate to learn and Become. Even though Set assaulted Horus and killed his father, the hawk subdued him in the end, as every initiate must. For Only Horus or Seth can sit on the throne, and I sure know which one I want to occupy it.

Something I forgot; in either words in silence or TBO, Luis marques says that the "path is guarded by a 3 headed demon". Belail's traditional sigil has 3 'turrets', and it is depicted as a 3 headed being in some illustrated versions of the Goetia, and in the Verum.

That 3 "turrets" you speak of in the sigil of Belial turned into the dual headed Phoenix rising out of the ashes for me. There was no question for me when I saw it. It took that shape three different meetings with me. Also, do not leave out the three headed dog Cerebus in this as some connection with you. Do you recall the crossroad meeting where you entered into a tunnel descending into the ground where you were admitted by Cerebus and if you were not approved you would not be able to enter that area.

In a side note, I have discovered that Belial is connected with the passing of the animal kingdom from this physical realm into the next one. Also, that the keeper of this earth realm is Belial. One can find the American Indians relate to Belial very dearly as they call him the Great Spirit. I suddenly came to realize this in one meeting with my Grand father spirit that is an old Indian and always comes from the North. I was meeting with him long before I ever knew about the connection with Belial.

I actually just read through the part of the Scorpion God which details the 6 towers and the received Gnosis... Needless to say it both freaked me out a bit, and was an amazing experience. I absolutely love the parallels in Smith's books.

As for great mystery, that explains a lot about the nature of Algonkian spirituality. All the shamans I know of within this system feel a great connection to the earth, and almost hold a disdain for the weakness of 'civilized' peoples.

Following a trail of intuition I am about to embark on reading the original 1950s translation of Beelzebub's tales to his grandson. It promises to be an interesting read, and looks like a unique perspective on this being.

I have in my hands a book for those initiated to A∴A∴.It is the publication in class A.
Quote: “Here is the Abyss. Here is Choronzon.Know Thou the danger,& fear not.”
Here is the Abyss ever-present,ever-threatening.Choronzon liveth not in the Tenth Aethyr:verily, he liveth Nowhere,& this darkness permeateth all things.
I wish not to quote more of this book as it is not for the eyes of those new to the forum.
