Enochian Magic and Asetianism Empty Enochian Magic and Asetianism

Greetings,

Some writers say that Kabbalah wouldn't be properly understood without first looking at the Enochian magic and the hierarchy of angels. Looking at the structure of the angels, we have 4 archangels: Michael, Raphael, Ariel and Gabriel. Those archangels are used frequently in the LBRP, but in Asetianism are replaced by the 4 Guardians, sons of Horus: Duammutef, Imset, Qebehsenuf and Hapi.

For a better understanding of the tree of life and pathworking of the Asetian magic, Enochian magic is a great tool or just something that does not correspond with the Asetianism?

Look at the 4 beings in view of going to a super market chain.  Each chain store will be selling the same product yet it will have different packaged names of the brand that has packaged it.  The rice will still be rice yet may have the name packaged by "Uncle Ben" or "Riceland Rice" or "Our Family" or "Caraway Rice".  So if you went into a different supermarket chain on the other side of the country you might find four brand names that are different but yet you will still get the type product you are searching for.

Those beings you are working with will inhabit your mind structure in an outline you are using (which in your case is the structure of the kabbalah) and you will call and beckon for them to inhabit that mind set-up you use.  If you were working within the Qlippoth you would be using four other beings so their names would be different but you would still be using the same outline in your ritual work.  it all depends on the system you are working as to which beings you will call and summon to your outline.  The four different directions will be guarded by those individual beings or watchtowers you summon.

Also, to get a proper understanding of magic, personally I believe one should work and learn different systems to understand the underlying principle how it all works. Some are satisfied using only one system, but it is certainly how one's personality will "fit" the working and how you learn your "craft".

Enochian Magic and Asetianism Empty Re: Enochian Magic and Asetianism

I remember there's a quote from Dion Fortune somewhere about getting results from a system before moving on... I'll try to find it

Ah, here it is:

No student will ever make any progress in spiritual development who flits from system to sytsem; first using some New Thought affirmations, then some Yoga breathing exercises and meditation-postures, and following these by an attempt at the mystical methods of prayer. Each of these systems has its value, but that value can only be realised if the system is carried out in its entirety. They are the calisthenics of consciousness, and aim at gradually developing the powers of the mind. The value does not lie in the prescribed exercises as ends in themselves, but in the powers that will be developed if they are persevered with. If we intend to take our occult studies seriously and make of them anything more than desultory light reading, we must choose our system and carry it out faithfully until we arrive, if not at its ultimate goal, at any rate at definite practical results and a permanent enhancement of consciousness. After this has been achieved we may, not without advantage, experiment with the methods that have been developed upon other Paths, and build up an eclectic technique and philosophy therefrom; but the student who sets out to be an eclectic before he has made himself an expert will never be anything more than a dabbler. -Mystical Qabbalah

Personally I enjoy the sass present in Fortune's writings, but I don't enjoy her Christianized look of light and dark as angels and demons.

Also, in Enochian, aren't the elements divided throughout 16 cells, set up like the 16 court cards of the tarot; with each element branching off into its 4 aspects?

Also this is a bit off topic, but I found what I deem to be an exceedingly interesting book on vampirism the other day. It's the diary of an early 20th century mystic who delved into, and got consumed by Qlippa.

Just a warning I forgot to put; the book is really dark and has quite explicit themes and passages, for anyone concerned with that kind of thing.

Regarding D. Fortune... One has to be drawn to a particular system to find interest enough to pursue it, I believe. There has to be something there like a magnet that is pulling you toward it to begin with.

I know what you mean there; I recently read both her practical kabbalah, and the Azoetia by one mr. Chumbley, and although the Azoetia is a far more... loose book, I found myself able to connect with it extremely well.

I agree with both of you.

The success is unquestionable for each Magic System. In my case I feel very good in calling the Sons of Horus to protect my magic circle than the Hebrew archangels. It's also true that we don't have a detailed system about Asetianism compared to that which is detailed in Goetia and Enochian. I've done this experience many times, and the vibrations and energy environment are different. In this case we are talking about the Asetian Kabbalah, something that is not equal to the Kabbalah of other systems, including the PathWorking. The Liber 777 gives an excellent example of how the Kabbalah is explored in a clear with their names, all attributed to each sphere according to the Hebrews, and we see that this is a complete magical system.

My question to that is, if it's worthy use this same process to approach the understanding of Asetian Kabbalah, or if there is a whole different process from Liber 777 by Aleister Crowley?

I just attempted to read through Liber 777 to contribute to this conversation, but I really don't feel any pull to it. I can see the value, especially the amount of work that went into those tables, but in the style its organized, my brain can't translate it well.

Also I have to agree with you on calling the guardians of the circle. Especially when I work with the son, and the one who guards the son, I can really feel their energy.

Oddly enough, I can kind of feel what Crowley says in 777 about the 4 angels of the quarters, and especially with the hebrew names there, it makes it a lot easier to feel the energy of the beings. But they don't have that "oomph" feel, and I don't feel pulled to include them in my circle.

Also, in terms of Aseitan Kabbalah, I kind of see the kabbalah as rotating like the zodiac wheel, but within the tree itself. A good quote, I believe from the book of Orion says something along the lines of
"for the splendor lives in beauty and the beauty in strength" referring to the 3 Sephira.

Another note, when we were discussing attributions of the Tarot and the Shin centers, Viktor mentioned the priestess and the initiatory urn being related to the heart, and I am apt to believe him when he of all people says something that directly. Even if one were to go beyond the acceptance of his words, meditating upon the correspondence was a very pleasant experience.
