My Understanding of How Magick Works

Something I have given a lot of deep though to over the years is the practical and technical details of the powers of the human mind and "spiritual essence" of the the human being. I have explored different occult religions and some just didn't work for me and my beliefs. I was raised without religion including occult religions, but spirituality has always been a part of who I am. Also in somewhat of a conflict I was a bit of an Atheist for a while and I have always been very inclined toward a scientific viewpoint of the world. So I decided to search for a bridge between the two.

I have always understood the power our mind holds over the physical world and how influential a thought can be. See each individual has his own beliefs strong and weak, someone who is raised in a heavily Christian family will likely have experiences that he will perceive as being from God or an Angel. When he sees a prayer come true, later prayers will be even more powerful as his belief that it will be acted on is even stronger. One's one reality and life influence ones thoughts. What I am getting at is say you look into Wicca or Satanism, if your own beliefs and reality don't match up with that system and you are unable to come to an understanding of those beliefs and tenets than it won't work. So if you devise your own personal system based on whatever systems you wish and using unbiased practical knowledge say from Asetianism or other ancient knowledge as long as it is real to you, it will work for you.

These are some of my thought. I could explain further but that would take too long. What do you think??

Welcome to the site, Antonio.  It appears you have a legitimate question and I have watched over the last several days to see you have done some reading over the site.  We look forward to your contributions in the future as well.  

First, may I request you go into the open, other section and give everyone a post regarding yourself and a little more information even though you have done that somewhat in the above section.  How you found this site and what prompted you to join, etc?

Also, let me say I will address some of the issues you mentioned in your post about magic and how you got to that point in your life.  I will do that but I do not want to monopolize the issue and I will allow others to address your question and input their thoughts and feelings about what you have asked.  Then there are a couple of points I would like to come in and address after there are some other thoughts here.

That's probably because you never studied advanced magick. Will is an important factor in magickal focus but there's much more to magick than will alone.

Er... I would definitely have to agree with Nightshade on this one. If magic relies on Will, and Will only, then what is keeping certain people from annihilating their enemies with a single thought? Just because you are working with the unseen does not mean there aren't very real, solid mechanics behind what you are doing when you practice magic. And without and understanding of that baseline, anything you attempt to do is meaningless.

because it doesn't work that way. The Will of your magic is not your thoughts. The Will is the essence of your entire being. Allowing yourself to create the energy from with, send it out, create the effect. Your Will is your the energy extension of yourself. Your Will isn't your thoughts, no, that would just be your thoughts.

That certainly seems to be a very important part but what I am talking about is not mere "What will I have for lunch?" kind of thought. I am talking about conceptual thought, giving energy form and direction, the will for that to happen is necessary. The stronger one believes in something the stronger the energy produced, the clearer the direction and form. The stronger one believes in something the stronger the will because one does not realize that he is making it happen when he is. If one does not have a clear conceptual idea of something and he does not believe in what he is practicing than his will means nothing...

Just to clarify, what I mean by this is in the context of someone praying to a God or some other entity, asking for them to do something... Though I am not trying to say that there are no gods or other entities.

I run into a lot of people who have a lot of energy but no will. Its quite frustrating when trying to help someone understand. You agreed with what I stated. Your will isn't just thoughts which is why the essence of magic is the will of the user

Well, I don't know if you are referencing me or not but I can assure you that all of my conclusions are drawn from application, study and raising of my own awareness, through meditation and past life recalls. I observe life and it's patterns. I have success with my practices and I have experience. I was not trying to come off as an authority on the subject of magick but merely proposing my viewpoint for discussion. So I would not say that I am an "Armchair Magician."

I stir up emotion in just about everyone and many think I speak directly to them...If there is ever any question, just ask directly and I can say I will tell it how I see it. LOL.

Magick requires much more than the Will of the magician.Magick requires Will,desire,belief and the compination of all three.It also requires imagination and creativity.It is vital to enter a specific mindset or ''tune'' into a certain frequency to have acces to the most that magick has to offer.The foundation of magick is psychology.A person I know mumbled next to a person and the person who annoyed him became sick for 3 days allong with others.At last but not least Magick is for all.Many will use it but few will master it.
