Em Hotep,

As everyone knows here, there is connections with the saga Star Wars and the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings. Today I want talk about a new symbolism that I see in a serie that is strongly beat all records on TV. I am talking about The Game of Thrones. The story revolves around the Seven Kingdoms, where there is a war to obtain the Throne. The story is set mostly on the continent of Westeros, but also on a large continent to the east called Essos. In the past, the Seven Kingdoms were united by Aegon the Conqueror and his two sisters - all of this to the House Targaryen. Take this to Asetianism, we know that Aset had three Children, one boy and two girls. Another interesting detail is that the author mentions that the Targaryens married to each other, brothers and sisters to keep the bloodline pure, a connection to the strains of the Pharaohs. With the swords of their enemies Aegon built the legendary Iron Throne and his lineage. The 7 Kingdoms can be compared to the 7 Pillars of Asetianism. I could argue that the Targaryens are the Asetians not only by how formed his kingdom, but also because they are the bloodline of dragons. Recently Master Luis Marques made a tweet that I found very interesting, because at the same time I was studying the Targaryen dragons .

https://twitter.com/LuisMarques wrote:A dragon can only be awoken by fire.

Now is the dramatic part that there is a great plot. The famous Red Wedding. Eddard Stark died in the first season in the ninth (9) episode. In the second season, was the ninth(9) episode too, there was a great tragedy, many deaths, many betrayals and in the third season the nine(9) episode, was the the largest and the most cruel tragedy. The family and army of Eddard Start who had been killed in the first season was murdered, the war between the Lannisters and Starks, Lannisters won by treachery and strategies with the Starks lost were deceived because of their honor and loyalty, the confrontation between lions and wolves was carried out during a party, The Red Wedding. Or if you prefer, The Ruins of Castamere. If you look at the details of the tragedies, happening in 9.9.9. I remember a tweet from Master Luis Marques some years ago:

https://twitter.com/LuisMarques wrote:9.9.9 - A day of hidden storms and broken shields. Listen to the silent echoes within the shadow of lost cries and forgotten memories.

It is clear that the serie has more season, but certainly, the author chooses the ninth episode to do something tragic. Returning to Targaryen, Daenerys has only three dragons, and they are native of the continent of Essos. That same continent there is an island called Ib (sometimes called Ibben). In one of the Asetians Pillars, Ib means 'Heart'. Philae is an island.

Jon Snow, the bastard of the Stark family, had to choose between love and honor. He chose honor. Chose the "right", abandoning Ygritte and all the promises that make to her, not betray her and stay by her side and then running to the Black Castle to warn them  impending the attack of wilds. Jon may be an example of a Keeper, loyal to their purpose, their cause, their Honor Guard. He do not let a passion harmed what he represents...

To be continued...

Post by Syrianeh 07.03.14 5:36

I loved this post, Kalb. I'm also a big fan of Game of Thrones and I had just been thinking about the "Three-headed dragon" in the same way. I now see all the parallels as well.

Thanks for sharing this!

It makes me wonder... Some great literature (because the books of a Song of Ice and Fire are extremely good literature, not just a fantasy saga) seems to reveal hidden gnosis and parallelisms with occult societies (Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, even Harry Potter).

But does it really, or does it resonate with it, accidentally, by tapping into a vast vault of knowledge through the often magickal act of creation?

To add to this I would say that the image of the "Three headed dragon" holds a lot of symbolic weight, from the three headed beast in the Apocalypse to some Slavic myths and many other references throughout history. It is often a symbol of divine power, which often comes tripartite (as in the holy trinity - which, of course, is an echo of the three children of Aset).

Ah, this is fun.

I just thought of another interesting coincidence:

Daenerys is more than human, she's got dragon blood; which makes her a godlike being incarnated. Her husband (Drogo) is killed, and she tends to his wounds and buries him. But in a dream she visits him in his underworld, the world of the dead. He exists there for her.

And she has violet eyes Smile)

Probably just fun coincidences. But your post just got me unwinding my mind!

The Game of Thrones & Connections. Empty Re: The Game of Thrones & Connections.

Post by Jonathan 07.03.14 18:25

This is an interesting subject. I also enjoy the series Game of Thrones and even more the literature that exists behind it. I agree with what Syrianeh said on how this is great literature and I feel that there are hidden teachings laying there. I have considered potential connections with Asetian history before but I haven't studied that possibility seriously but now you're both giving me further elements to study and explore. I am not entirely convinced if these symbolic connections are real or they are drawn from elements that lay dormant in the human consciousness of their authors. I have investigated the famous The Lord of the Rings connections with Asetianism before and have seen plausible elements being explained by people who know a lot more about it than I do. There is definitely some evidence that Tolkien was aware of the Order of Aset Ka, which doesn't mean that he was a member but it was quite possible that he had access to parts of their ancient history that are not public knowledge. To this day the Tolkien Society has a private lodge that has long been speculated to maintain dialogue with the Aset Ka.
Concerning George Martin that's more doubtful but then again we really can't say. There is truly an Asetian feel to parts of the story and particularly the symbolism being used. Their approach to duality, the price to pay for honor and yes, the Targaryen family. Those so-called last dragons have many aspects that we can find in the Asetians. Like them, they were also the rightful heirs to the throne but now they live in exile and are very few, nearly extinct. The determination and fierceness of Daenerys Targaryen has a very Viperine appeal, reflected on the profound development of her character and identity as she grows from an innocent young girl to a mighty queen with a cunning strategy. She conquers her own way and she clearly is not perfect, sometimes taking action that most would consider unethical and completely detached. The sigil of their family is a three headed dragon, which could be a very clear symbol of the three Lineages. As Kalb mentioned, their ancestors were a man and two sisters. Primordial Horus and the two sisters? Very curious. The seven, sacred to Asetians, is reflected all over the Song of Ice and Fire mythology, from the Seven Kingdoms to the Light of the Seven gods. The fact that the descendants from this strange family have violet eyes, which is such a specific detail, is what really makes me wonder. Even if only coincidences, I have do admit they are quite extraordinary and certainly a hell of fun to study!
I haven't considered what Syrianeh mentioned about Daenerys visiting her love after his death in the underworld and him being "alive" for her while in there. That's another interesting thing so thanks for mentioning. I will also try looking at the Stark family as Keepers as Kalb mentioned, another detail I haven't thought.

I will watch the full series again and I'll get back to you hopefully with more information. You two got me all pumped up about this now! Let me just say that while I'm reading the many and really long books of A Song of Ice and Fire, which is where great symbolism hides, I haven't yet read them all. So please bear with me and don't share any spoilers that go beyond the plot where the TV series currently is at. Thanks and I'm off to start with this from scratch.  study

Jonathan, you'd better hurry up or you will get spoiled badly Smile

I haven't fread all the books yet, I'm on the fourth one right now, "A feast for Crows". But there are still two unwritten books pending after the fifth!

Anyway, regarding "Feast for Crows", I would like to share I quote that caught my eye (and spirit):

"We tremble on the cusp of half-remembered prophecies, of wonders and terrors that no man now living could hope to comprehend".

Told by Aemon, the oldest living male of the Dragon bloodline, to Sam, his loyal brother of the Wall.

Some quotes of Daenerys that I feel so great thinking....

- "If I look back I am lost."
- "A dragon is no slave."
- "A queen must listen to all. The highborn and the low, the strong and the weak, the noble and the venal. One voice may speak you false, but in many there is always truth to be found."

George RR Martin is a monster writer. His work is gigantic. Epic. Twisted. Dark. The world and background story that you are discussing is described in his books A Song of Ice and Fire, which are not all finished. There are currently 7 books available, each around 800 pages long. Actually they were written as 5 books but since some were so long they had to be broken into more volumes. I believe there are still 2 being written before the work is finally complete and the author has mentioned that at the very least each of the missing two will be over 1000 pages long! Studying this is a monumental undertaking. There comes the 7 again, as the author plans on having 7 full books at the end (not counting if they get broken into several volumes), the kind of symbolism Luis Marques is known to masterfully use. It's important to reference that this is still a work of fiction, however to me that doesn't mean that it doesn't have any occult value. It has been long known for authors and artists to hide secrets within their work and art, sometimes even powerful initiatory knowledge, symbols and spiritual mysteries. Leonardo DaVinci is only the most well known cases, but he's not alone. The reference to Tolkien and The Lord Of The Rings was a good one as some the great battles and political struggles he describes are known to have similarities with the Epic Wars in Ancient Egypt between the Aset Ka and Red Order of Seth.

I find the Sethian symbolism of the number 9 disturbing and how there is an effort to use it in the television series. This is one of the few drama series and fiction works where the author finds allure in killing main characters to the despair of readers and viewers. It started with one of the very main characters in episode 9 of the first season. Unexpected death. Treason and dishonor. People thought it was a one time event, an eccentricity of the author. Then episode 9 of season two, the Lannister family was about to be destroyed and their mother willingly killing her own children with poison to save them from torture, when Tywin saves them at the very last moment. If you believe the Targaryen are the Asetians then the Lannister must be the Sethians. They broke Targaryen rule from the throne in the past, a throne they sought for themselves all along, and they were responsible for the killing and torture of the Targaryen kin. Now they are wealthy and powerful, much more physical, while Targaryen power remains illusive, ethereal and magickal. I can see valid theory there. But it was not the end of the 9 curse. In season three, the last one currently released on television, is where the true wicked power of number 9 is revealed as we reach episode 9 once again. It was judged by critics to be one of the most dramatic and traumatic moments in television history. The Red Wedding was it called. I will not fill this with spoilers to those who haven't reached season three yet or those who will only now start studying this, but let me just tell you to first understand the importance of The Rains of Castamere and its symbolism. It represents the power and mind of Tywin Lannister and very well describes the driving force of Sethians and their clash with the Asetians in very ancient past. It's just beautiful.

A few years later in Game of Thrones, Lord Petyr Baelish says "Knowledge is Power" which Queen Cercei replies with an elaborate demonstration of the power of her command and replies "Power is Power".

Could be peculiar coincidences, yet they remain similar ideas and even similar expressions based on the writings of Marques.

Greetings,

It's important mention that she is part of Lannister Family. As already mentioned, we say that the Lannisters would be a good representation of Sethians, if we look at the same perpective to the Book of Nun from Asetian Bible we see that God Seth is represented by Power hieroglyphic. In Asetian Culture is connected with the Root Shen, where one of the main color is Red, connected with the earth element and the negative part of the Root Shen is Violence and Anger.

Very good observation, Victor!!

Another famous quote from Littlefinger is "chaos is a ladder". Here is a short transcription:

Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish: The realm. Do you know what the realm is? It's the thousand blades of Aegon's enemies, a story we agree to tell each other over and over, until we forget that it's a lie.

Lord Varys: But what do we have left, once we abandon the lie? Chaos? A gaping pit waiting to swallow us all.

Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish: Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some, are given a chance to climb. They refuse, they cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.

We all know how the power of Chaos - the main creative force in the Universe - is an invaluable tool for the Left Hand Path and many other forms of magick.

To those following the new season that is currently being featured on HBO (season 4), last week in the first episode Daenerys talks about a very large and strong city she wants to visit or conquer and they say it took many years and thousands of people to build the "Great Pyramid". It's a city with clear Ancient Egyptian architecture and it even has a Great Pyramid. It's just a detail but an obvious parallel with Egypt.

Arya Stark lessons have been interesting. She is worshiping the God of many faces, I can clearly represent Aset, the Goddess of many faces and representations. But the detail that catches my attention is what Arya does, she's forgetting everything she lived and learned and reborn in a new person.

I agree Kalb. I actually look forward the dialogue between Arya and her Master because it very parallel with the Asetian concept of Becoming.
Something Aemon Targaryen said was very interesting in relation to the idea of the Asetian/Targaryen parallel.

Aemon said, "A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing." And we all know of the intent of the Sethians to separate the Asetian family...
