Bast and Vampirism Empty Bast and Vampirism

Post by Nebibi 17.03.10 11:21

I was reluctant to post this but I will give it go....so here goes nothing...

I have observed that cats have an almost Vampiric (I am not saying they do) nature. They are very contemplative and predatory, while still being graceful and caring to those they love.

As some of you may know the Ancient Egyptians revered cats, and if someone killed a cat (even by accident) this was punished with death.

My question is: is Bast a Goddess? Is she an aspect of Aset? Is there a connection with Cats/Bast and Vampirism?

I would love to see your opinions on the subject.

Bast, as a Guardian, is directly connected with Asetianism, and by that, with vampirism as well. She can be seen as a face of Aset, as part of her essence, but that is because Bastet was indeed an Asetian. This was discussed more than a year ago in some old thread in this forum. Bastet was an Elder from the Sep Tepy and the Old Kingdom, part of the Asetian aristocracy. Some speculate that she might have been a higher general of the Asetian army, reason that later gave her connection to warfare and the protection of the Pharaoh (Horus). Others go as far as speculating she may be one of the original sisters of Horus, and by so one of the three Primordials. These are just some of the different views from the ones who study Asetian history for long. But Primordial or not, General or Priestess, one thing is for certain, she was one of the renown Asetian Elders from the Asetian Empire in Kemet. She's a major reference in the Asetian history, just like Horus and Hathor.

An important detail when addressing Egyptology under an Asetian history perspective is to keep in mind that many of the so-called deities (Gods and Goddesses) started as living beings in the old days, most likely as the most important Asetians and Sethians in history, that given their powers and abilities remained in history and myth as "Gods". Bastet is just one example among many.

By the way, this thread should not be in the Off Topic, but in the section about Asetianism and the Aset Ka. I request for the administration, if possible, to move it appropriately.

Sorry about not posting it in the right place Victor. And thank you for your response.
I thought I remembered reading it somewhere but I was not sure and I wanted some sort of clarification.

Ivy,
You may also want to reread the first paragraph of page 63. For whatever reason, I came across that page while looking at something nonrelated, and then remembered seeing your post. :-)

I must also thank you for your explanation Victor, and for sharing the helpful advice in your second paragraph. That was a good reminder for me as I continue my study of the Egyptian history.

Thanks...
