"Their gates and mansions have been destroyed, their mortuary priests are [gone], their tombstones are covered with dirt, their tombs are forgotten. (But) their names are proclaimed on account of their books which they composed while they were alive. The memory of their authors is good: it is for eternity and for ever.

Be a writer, take it to heart, so that your name will fare likewise. A book is more effective than a carved tombstone or a permanent sepulchre. They serve as chapels and mausolea in the mind of him who proclaims their their names. A name on people's lips will surely be effective in the afterlife!

Man perishes, his corpse turns to dust; all his relatives pass away. But his writings make him remembered in the mouth of the reader. A book is more effective than a well-built house or a tomb-chapel in the West, better than an established villa or a stela in the temple!
...
Those wise men who foretold what was to come: what they said came into being; it was found as a maxim, written in their books. Others' offspring will be their heirs, as if they were their own children. They hid their magic from the world, but it is read in their teachings. They are gone, their names forgotten, but writings cause them to be remembered."

-Toby Wilkinson

Not all writers have this ability of transcendence. It is an interesting thing to think about, what causes this deep level of impact and change in readers. Definitely, there is a hidden aspect of magick and energy work when it comes to writing, and having it achieve that quality of immortality. Still yet, some will create lasting works of art but not have that same nature of the soul experienced by Asetians.

It is something I've been contemplating. The difference between a lasting work of writing and a piece of true Heka.

A desire to give selflessly; a hope and wish to illuminate by yourself being illuminated; a will to enrich. All beyond ego. To produce a work of value because you have placed value on what truly is valueable and matters; and a daring to challenge what needs to be met with the confidence of truth.

A lasting work of writing in comparison to a true piece of Heka is that the case of the latter is more expressed, from the consciousness of underlying energy, by the author. I would not say that it is this reductionistically simple for it is certainly not. It might be in principle but with great intricate detail that should never be underestimated. Also there is the factor that a true piece of Heka might simply take the form of a quote as we see on Luis Marques' Twitter, but not to be underestimated at all for its power is great; or it might take the form of a whole book as, which powerful expression and manifestation, we might see in the Violet Throne. However, a classic work that is not directly a piece of Heka might simply have gained its popularity or reputation by the intelligent thought or wisdom woven expressibly into its yarn by a hand of great skill, forming the most beautiful patterns. Heka is initiatory in power and not an easy art to unlock for it is veiled behind the thick domain of ego that can never wield it but must be peeled off layer by layer until it stands revealed within your own experience of its magick within Self.

I doubt entirely that magick is every present within writing, as I myself write often and have no knowledge nor affinity with such magick. But, also I believe to associate the authors effects with magick demeans it and devalues the writers works. That writer did it by themselves with no input from something beyond them, as mathematics is something we humans can use to envision things beyond reality, something that does not and potentially will nevr exist, yet we can imagine and comprehend it. so too is writing's effects, something that we alone have created, not just copied from some already existing template, it is something we as a race created akin to a divine spark. And to dehumanise that accomplishment by associating it with "Oh, there must be magick behind it. Humans alone could never have created something without help from some outside force." In my cynical opinion you may say, detracts from that authors accomplishment. One achieved outside of any such plagiarism of nature.

Though I must ask for forgiveness for my agitated tone as, I personally take offence. But, I perfectly respect you interpretation. However, you must understand, passion for something is intrinsically selfish in an aspect and so I wish any accomplishments in that regard to be simply, their own. My apologies for my misguided annoyance.

I understand your point of view but this magick is not of the external type to my knowledge but comes from within. Also probably less than one or a half percent of all writers know about this magick... probably even less than that.

There may be some misunderstandings going on.
I am not devaluing the achievements of other writers in favor of a small few. Not at all, as there are many phenomenal writers out there who have created amazing works and this world would be in a sorry place without them.
I am talking about Heka and the imbuing of words with vibrational power and initiatory properties for the purpose of causing deep change in those able to resonate. This, as opposed to the works of those who only copy originals and do not put heart and soul into what they are doing, or create things for egotistical reasons. By this I mean that a grimoire put together by someone initiated will have a much different energy than one made by someone chasing fame and the quality of "being remembered" and being recognized for it's own sake (as I talked about along with the quote). In this sense I was addressing the occult side of things more than anything. Many copy the AK's material, for example, but while they might amass a bigger following and more popularity, their own grimoires are not really grimoires. Just trying to come up with examples, though it isn't restricted to this one side of things. I was thinking about how art created for the sake of recognition is not true art at all, at least not in my view.
I see you're passionate about writing, and no condemnation was intended of those who simply create things out of passion.
Best of luck in your own creative efforts.
