Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Ritual or Energy Work?

Post by Jonathan 12.10.11 5:54

Today I have a simple question for you.

In terms of practicing the occult, you prefer the use of ritual magick or to work directly with energy without the ritual component?

There can be many ways to answer this, if possible please share your preferences and opinion.

Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Re: Ritual or Energy Work?

Post by Daniel09 12.10.11 7:33

Half-n-half, for me. When performing simple operations, it is just direct energy work. When I need to do something highly complex which requires more energy or focus, I add ritual into the mix.

Mostly, ritual has its function when I'm not sure what to do, so it acts as a channel for the energy to follow.

Good question, Jonathan. Smile

Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Re: Ritual or Energy Work?

Post by Jonathan 12.10.11 9:08

Thank you. Smile Well I agree with you, I also use both and find both to be important occult practices. When younger I used to be highly ritualistic and practice ritual magick very exhaustively, maybe due to my pagan background. I have noticed however that lately I have been relying more on energy work and dealing directly with energy rather than using the complex rituals of before. I'm not sure why this happened, if it's just a phase of my life or if growing and evolving actually makes us go back to the simpler things and work directly with the source. I don't mean that I no longer use ritual, I do. Some things are way too complex to work with without some form of established ritual developed by occultists that have experienced far more than I did. All I mean is that lately I end up accomplishing magick in a more direct way and not feeling the need of ritual as much as before. Maybe that will change again when I keep growing and find more empowering rituals and techniques, I really don't know.

I have studied alot of different ritualistic practises and always find them to be useful and an important step in occult growth as a whole. However, I always end up coming back to energy work as I find this is what I feel most comfortable with, and have probably made the most obvious progress with. Also, I do feel that without it, the main essense of most rituals is never quite achieved anyway.

I am training in an official Wicca Coven. I'm learning to use both energy and ritual. Wicca is often mocked in online occult circles, but I believe there is a lot of merit is formally studying Wicca with a coven. I've learnt more than I ever could alone.

Coming from a purely atheist/materialist background.... I'm still learning the ropes of being 'aware' of energy.

What matters is that you're in the path to raise awareness and slowly develop your subtle senses to work with energy. We're all still learning. No one knows it all.

Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Re: Ritual or Energy Work?

Em Hotep,

I have a curiosity a bit silly, but I would like to share with you and know your opinion. Any teaching about ritual magic involving protection and according to Judaism there are some archangels, for example, there are rituals of purification that is taken from the psalms and some say that the Golden Dawn derives its prayer of Psalm 51. I don't know if it's true or not, I never studied the Golden Dawn in a profound way, but, the point is I have seen many rituals based on the archangels of the bible, Micael, Raphael, Uriel and Gabriel are the archangels usually used in ritual. Certainly, the non-Jewish, non-Christian don't using this type of archangels in their rituals, but, other type of beings. In the case of Asetianism, the story is different, the objectives of the guardians is completely different from what we were taught to see and believe. We realize better how the ritual works. in other words, if we don't invoke the correct beings the ritual is protected? What makes a ritual protected? We do a ritual, invoke the guardians we have been taught in the AB and a Christian invokes the archangels .. there differences in the ritual?

Thank you.

Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Re: Ritual or Energy Work?

My personal preference is energy work. I have used ritual and at times still partake of it but I find that my best work comes from simple direction of energy. For the most part, I view the ritual chamber as being between the ears as opposed to a room. This is just my view though.

Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Re: Ritual or Energy Work?

There are many different ritual traditions. Although I don't believe myself in angels, at least in the traditional religious sense on how people see them, I think that some rituals that make use of their names may actually work. Not just because the psychology behind ritual is strong in talking to your subconscious but also because some of those powers touch elemental forces in nature. In a sense they are not angels but just nature itself and nature is powerful.

Many of those rituals use very old magick techniques, so they can work even if people don't really understand why they are actually working and not because the angels are real. Of course that just because they work somehow that doesn't mean they will work as intended and when dealing with magick that you don't understand things may go wrong. Most people dealing with magick without actually understanding what they are doing are common and won't go very far.

Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Re: Ritual or Energy Work?

Post by Sinata Anika Asti 23.02.12 8:51

I prefer working with energy...I have done both as most of us here, but I think ritual is a sort of beginning into the occult and energy a more advanced practice...I am thinking that ritual in the beginning allows one to open up through steps and learn to feel energy in a sense if it is not something one is naturally accustomed to...

With repeated use of ritual in the beginning and whereby full manifestation of the Spirit being is accomplished, it will then allow the magician contact without any further ritual. And I assume that is everyone's meaning of "energy work"

Ritual or Energy Work? Empty Re: Ritual or Energy Work?

Post by DCxMagus 16.04.12 4:05

Ritual work is just various ways to keep the conscience mind distracted on trivial things while we work towards gnosis and a connection to true self. I always have more powerful results when adding it a bit of ritual to my energy work even it is just simple hand movements to help with focus. At the time I try not to over use ritual because it can become a crutch if the detachment is never made in your mind that it is "needed", this can ultimately hinder progress in the long run.

Exactly and I agree. As everyone is not on the same level with their spirit walk, of course, one has to start at some point........But it appears you have
moved into the area of being able to contact on the astral level. Exellent.
