history repeats

Post by schitzophobic on 26.06.12 16:20

An idea occured to me while responding to another thread but felt my idea was too far from the topic and needed to be proposed elsewhere...

In my mind the phrase "history always repeats itself" combined with the observation that people do what they know to do and what is familiar... it takes conscious effort to stray from that... thus the question.... do you think history repeats itself as a direct result of reincarnation?

Good point. I'd never thought of that before. In my opinion, it's not so much about reincarnation as it is human genetics. We're programmed (for lack of a better word) to react to certain situations in a certain way, to crave that which isn't ours and so forth. Everything that happens in history can be explained with the cause-effect of our instincts.

Of course, this is my opinion, and the idea of the same people doing the same things over and over throughout time is definitely thought-worthy.

Could history repeat itself for the mere purpose of causing one to grow? That perhaps these set of circumstances induce a human to take action which in turn teaches one about strengths, weaknesses, control, thought process and to value each other (hopefully). Emotions are generally what causes great responses....emotions that one can feel have not changed throughout history.

This is a very good topic for the mind to think on!!! Thank you, Schitzophobic for bring this up.

this topic intrigues me. it brings me to think of this;

im sure we've all had recurring dreams before. you dream a dream once, and then another day/time you dream the same dream with the same people, settings, surroundings, etc. and the second time around you know what to do to complete this dream, and do so, and get further the second time around than you did the first time you dreamed this dream.

it happens to me on a regular, but apply this to real life, and the fact that history repeats itself. it could be like in the recurring dreams, its repeating itself for a reason, yet we are here again with new knowledge from our past; be it past lives or just seeing the past through recorded history. yet we are here again with our new-found knowledge, to advance further than last time. the question of it all though is, can we advance further, and how far? do we remember, are we smart enough? those are my thoughts on this

Demonia, if we were not smart enough to advance, than what would the purpose be to reincarnate?

this is true, i put that in there because some aren't smart... look at how far we've come, yet we progress in a way harmful to the earth; pollution fossil fuels electricity overwhelming amounts of garbage that accumulate faster than we can get rid of etc... those things are what i meant when i mentioned "are we smart enough..." the lot of us are born into society already being like this, and humanity as a whole isn't noticing how important those things are, yet they fiddle with politics and money instead ... everything is like a patch or stitch up; we made cars and trains and we improve them, make them better, yet fail to take the environment into consideration with our inventions... whether the giants win the superbowl seems much more appealing to the masses than if we can take a breath of fresh air in the next ten years... thats all i meant is are we smart enough. reasons like this though, could be why some humans don't reincarnate, or if they do, reincarnate as a lesser being than what they were...

That is because only a minority have enough sensitivity to care for those things and to see those problems. It all comes down to spirituality. If you're spiritual, in a real way and not some fantasy or ego-driven form, you have developed a higher sensitivity and will understand it, but most people won't. Humanity as a whole is nowhere near any form of enlightenment... that remains a path travelled only by a small elite that can see things more clearly. This is also connected with why the message from the Asetians in this era is so important and yet remains ignored by so many. As we have recently read from Luis Marques, most people avoid these inconvenient truths. The Asetians are here to expose them with their voice of truth, but not all will listen.

A few evolve, others remain in an endless loop until they turn to dust...

First off... all those who posted... thank you... i didnt expect my idea to stimulate so much thought...

Now... Victor and demonia...
What you said is mostly true...
I find (to my delight this statement doesnt apply in the least to this site) that most people take sides in an arguement not because they actually agree but because they go with the flow... do whats popular to fit in...

also our competitive nature feeds in to some things... making more money than somone else not because of the love of money but because someone else has more...

politics... some are there to fight for thier beliefs or the beliefs of thier constituents who often times dont fully understand the issues... for example (i know its a bad one) i know several individuals who claimed that they voted for our current president not because they agreed with his platfom (or were even aware of what it was) but because he was black and his slogan was "change"... this popularity contest feeds into the contrasting beliefs that cause the current gridlock...

Also back to competition... the bickering and posturing to gain more power than the other guy may also contribute to ineffective leaders gaining office...
However there are also contrasting problems in which the solutions most readily present contribute to other problems... the us economy is based around oil and industry... The shift away from the industrial age of our country to the technological age which will help with energy and polution but will collapse the industrailist economy... if you think about it... technology is good for progress... but bad for the masses... technology replaces jobs, thus lowering the money pool that goes to the local economies thus contributing to the recession...
Take my current situation as an example... my job could easily be done by a vending machine... in which one machine would replace twelve jobs... which would cut national debt costs at first by eliminating our govt jobs... but then twelve taxpayers wouldnt be paying taxes anymore(yes govt employees pay taxes which I find odd)... not traveling to work buying gas(less polution) which is taxed... not buying stuff with our leftover money thus cutting waste, polution, energy use, ect, but all those things are taxed (sales tax, import tax, luxury tax)... in this instance solving the polution, energy, waste, problems creates a slightly implosive effect on the national debt... thus forcing funding cuts to things like science grants, medical funding, the defense sector (which is also largely responsible for some advances in science, technology, energy(nuclear power plants are a military development) transportation, and a range of other areas... so the ready cure ends up perpetuating the cycle and exasperating the problems...
I feel the problem is like in indiana jones, finding the right weight to replace the current one with in order to not set of the trap...
