Stillness

Being used to action, interaction, movement, people tend to feel unease when suddenly there is nothing but silence, quietness...
It is scary in the begining when we have to deal with a sensation that everything stopped and disappeared, time, space, thoughts, and the idea of your own self suddenly makes no sense as there is nothing to be used as a mirror for it.

We, many times, become echoes of our surroundings, getting lost in the interference and influence we suffer, from sound, images, people, thoughts...

When we are faced with a sense of nothingness, or when there is nothing to catch our attention, to drive us, we tend to feel lost.

Silence makes us face our fears, our insecurities. Stillness makes us hear Silence.

We feel a weird sensation in the beginning. We are not used to a sense of neutrality, when in fact this sould be the natural state of our being.

It is interesting to observe how people are always finding ways to "fill the silence" , that is, produce things in order to keep the mind busy.

It may be the TV on, in a random channel, in order to have some sound around the house.
It may be that random chat we create just to avoid that silence, those gaps between conversation.
It may be those thoughts that appear, just to make noise in our mind...

We are not used to be in silence, to appreciate silence as a company.

Even visual influence, like mobiles, for example.

Whenever people have some free time, eyes are on the screen, keeping the mind busy, making some noise....

I believe we should appreciate this company of stillness, do not feel unconfortable, nor confortable. We should just be, at the moment, feel and flow with it.

There is beauty in just feeling the flow of the Universe, and this flow is always happening, making its own melody, played in the Silence of our Inner Self.

Let just learn how to enjoy these moments, be the moment, be the present and Be the Silence.

Perhaps that is a human failing, I don't know. I cannot remember ever not enjoying the sound of Silence. I enjoy time to hear myself, to feel all there is to be felt without the cares of day to day living.

I think I would go insane if I could not find a place an time to be still, be quiet, let my mind be quiet for a time, when I need to be quiet.

I do see how humans strive to fill silence, whether by some activity or with television, music, idle chatter, even wild imaginings or impossible day dreams, fidgeting, walking about for no reason, going to places where there are other people and so on.

How they stand it, I do not know, constant noise. That's one reason I live in such a rural location, to avoid the noise of more populated areas. Even in my home, if there is so much as the compressor on the refrigerator running, I sometimes find that too loud and have to go outside and far enough away form the house that I don't hear it. Other times something like that prevents me from sleeping until it's silent.

I could not live in a place with a constant drone of sounds, I'd loose my sanity, if nothing else from lack of rest.

Well, I tend to be very sensitive to sounds, energy, people, but on the other had I think I learned how to deal with it.
By the act of being neutral, we tend to balance and be less affected, however, there are some things that still causes discomfort.
