The Priory of Sion
I believe most of the users in here might be familiar with the secret society from Europe known as the Priory of Sion.
Many scholars believe it never existed, while others still argue for the elements pointing to its secretive existence and questionable list of Grand Masters, that may include names such as Leonardo da Vinci, Isaac Newton and Robert Boyle.
What are your opinions about the Priory? Was it just a hoax and myth to launch confusion and doubt, or is it a real secret society that hides nasty secrets from the Vatican and its polemic past?

Re: The Priory of Sion
This is quite an interesting topic... and there are some details and information about the Priory of Sion that may make the interested mind think twice. I remember having read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown some years ago, where the entire storyline is circling around the Priory of Sion, a secretive order that worships the Feminine and exists to protect a powerful secret that could shake the Vatican to its core - the true story of Christ, and Opus Dei, another secretive order that is run by the Vatican, trying to stop the secret from reaching the public. It is certainly not easy to know if what you read is partly true or entirely misleading, however it is quite an enlightening read for those interested in the Priory of Sion.

Re: The Priory of Sion
Jonathan, what is your own personal belief and understanding concerning the Priory of Sion? Personally I have heard far too much stories about them to detect and judge on which is truth and which is not.

Re: The Priory of Sion
I believe that the big chunk of information presented out there is just myth. Also, Aghrab mentioned The DaVinci Code, and although entertaining to read, we should never forgot that it is a fiction story and not an occult book. Dan Brown is a fiction writer, not an occultist. He did some nice research, yes, but still on many things he ended up making a shallow approach.
I still believe the Priory may exist, though, just not how people expect it to be from all of the hype that grew about it after Dan Brown's book. Now if it holds any true secret able to collapse the Vatican, I don't know, but if it does, it surely goes deeper that just Jesus having a wife.

Re: The Priory of Sion
If the Priory exists, would the Aset Ka have more information on their order than the public? Are there any connections between the Aset Ka and the PoS? Seems strange, since the PoS is known to give so much value to the Woman and the Goddess...

fact of the matter is however most of his " research" presented in the code was based off a text ( gospel of phillip) that was written 170 years later ( at minimum) of the events of Jesus Christ. In addition, Brown fictionally ( he was doing it for entertainment as you pointed out) that the book was contradicting things found in writings written at minimum five years after the events of christ. ( synoptic gospels and the gospel of john). Mark had eye witness of Peter, Matthew and John had obvious witness and Luke was a syrian doctor devoted to research and in the history of luke you actually see how much efforts he put into his volumes for theophillius.
Now as to the claim that Christ's divinity was designated at the council of Nicea is pure bogus, as the apostle Luke, John, and Andrew almost scream it in their writings as well as Ignatius of Antioch and Barnabas's epistle explicitly stating that Jesus Christ was divine and the son of God.
The actual purpose of The council of Nicea was to refute, Ophidia, Arius, Cerinthus etc for their heretical lies and blasphemous actions in which they put to the name of Christ.
I agree it's an interesting concept but it is mostly myth, like you said.

actually any group that has been accused of being the PoS ( though not always) has usually been gnostic.
The gnostics were hardcore ascetics with a hatred of women ( I am not exxagerating, they hated sexuality, especially in the female form).
