It would be interesting to see what self-proclaimed vampires enjoy for music. I guess obviously I tend towards the more darker ambient, metal, whatever genre. I really enjoy the band watain, both spiritually and musically. Death and black metal definitely glorify what the darkside is all about. What about you guys?

Ya thanks man. I saw them live a few weeks ago and they had the whole black magic vibe going, it was awesome. It makes you wonder what they intend to do with all those props and dead animals. Seems like an elaborate vampirism set up to me.

I have extensive musical taste, I don't think it defines me, I only listen to what I like to hear.

To give you all an idea (and since I can't post the link of my lastfm account before 7 days have passed):

Iron Maiden
Therion
Sopor Aeternus And The Ensemble Of Shadows
Paradise Lost
Haggard
Death
The Vision Bleak
Depeche Mode
Faith No More
Moi Dix Mois
etc...

Funny. I've never equated metal and such to be very dark or vampiric. It's kind of wanna-be, in my opinion, and very centered around the stereotypes surrounding "dark" people of today's generations.

I'm personally a fan of songs with interesting beats and good sounding rhythms. It varies widely.

That would be because you are 19.

Back in my day Sonny! Metal was very dark. *waves old man cane around*

As weird as it may sound, I can agree with both Daniel and Hierophant. I do think that heavy metal music used to have ties with the occult and express concepts of darkness, but that's mostly true in the old classics and not so much in modern metal. On that case I can agree with Daniel that most bands these days are centered around stereotypes. They use the occult and related concepts for marketing because it sells well and because people find it mysterious. In most cases, their music has no real message or deeper meaning, but it's only meant to seem "dark". That's not real darkness. I do agree that in many cases modern heavy metal is a wanna-be form of darkness.
