What is a deity to you?
Is it something that exists outside of yourself? Within the magician's mind?

A deity is a force of nature that exists outside of the magician. The deity is usually very powerful, with powers far beyond any human and even beyond that of any vampire. Pure divinity with no restriction. For example, Aset is the deity of the Throne, the Goddess of the Violet Flame - Mother of the Asetians. She exists outside of most, yet within the Asetians through Her sacred Ka. She dwells beyond the manifest universe, outside of this realm yet within this world if She so wishes. Remember, deities exist in the Divine. They must "lower" themselves to the Ethereal in order to make contact.

Are you so sure?

Some say that the divine rises from the realms of the unconscious.
Some say it lives in the "heart" etc.
For no reason? You can't speak with absolute knowing.

Who is to say all of the Universe doesn't exist in every psyche?

Well, I am of course speaking out of opinion. But what I have experienced it is VERY clear that deities exist outside of ourselves. The universe itself is divine. From the Source to every soul we all possess divinity within. There is just a hierarchy that I have noticed: Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Nut, etc. All deities that represent creation and sparked this world in all of its manifestations. Aset just happens to hold the key, as She is the Queen of the heavens. Embracing the inherent divinity within is important to understanding the Divine without. For example, the wisdom of Thoth is a never-ending well... but his teachings can only be grasped through the state of a higher metaphysical mind.

I know this comment wasn't directed to me but I will answer as I think I can contribute something.

This debate is always on the internet, seems the psychological model and the spiritual or external one tend to be in tension.
For me both of them are correct in a extent as in most of the contacts with an spirit both elements take part, the inner realms and the external realms of the participants , none exclude the other.
But the problem comes when you are not able to difference between both elements and fool yourself thinking all is inside of your psyche ,neither thinking they can't affect your psyche (or inversed).
If you are not able to (as it seems so) the soul mirrors of Franz Vardon work great for it.

Deities , for me they are spirits that are high in the universe hierarchy be that by their own medias or by human adoration force.

I.h.e.e.,

If you are not able to what?

I agree with your view on this. I wanted to see what others had to say/their reasoning as I can see both as you.
Let's see what others think and why Smile
