This is partially correct, but I wouldn't call the "gods" - although they might consider themselves as being ones.

No. They have "humanity" and are "humane," but aren't "human."

Ignoring colour, creed, and religion, there is a general box that the human species mentally has that defines what is a human. A person who steps out of this box often gets labelled as "monstrous" for the actions they perform on others. Usually of the sociopathic/psychopathic horror kind. One of these key actions is (casual) cannibalism. As society has progressed, the human psyche and key social norms have made the concept of humans hunting humans to be a general anathema to what it means to be human. Especially as a source of food/pleasure.

While there are animals that are known to cannibalise, there is usually a very specific reason behind each example. And beyond such examples, those same species don't go around hunting their own.

Yet vampires, despite their shells, are required to be human hunters. They might be able to connect with those around them and even enjoy the company of non-vampires, but they are still fundamentally a hunter out of neccessity of the very people they're spending time with. That's not just a slightly different way of experiencing the world, that's an entire paradigm-shifting of how a human interacts with others.

I really like this post, vampires can be so inhumane that they can be considered nonhuman. But, vampires have a human body, so they look human. This can be deceptive to someone who is a non-vampire. My patron deity tells me that people wonder about me if I am a vampire. I am not, but, would you believe a vampire if they told you they weren't?
